United Nations Presentation Folders
Presentation Folders can be an interesting sideline to collecting U.N. Stamps. These folders can be divided into two basic categories. (1) Dignitary folders which are given to heads of state and senior diplomats, are signed by the Secretariat-General. These folders are generally 9"x12" and come in various tan and blue leatherette styles. The purpose of these folders is to honor the person to who they are presented. (2) Complimentary folders are given at first day ceremonies, stamp shows and other special events such as specialized U.N. agency meetings.

Complimentary folders were produced for Major Shows and from 1966-1977 were produced in quantities up to 1000. Shown below is the first inside page.
This folder was produced for the First Day Issue of the 1969 U.N. Building Issue (Sc#194-195) issued on March 14, 1969 and Sc#196. The inside of the folder contains the stamps with the First Day Date of Issue applied.
Presentation folders can be a nice area to collect as a adjunct to your normal stamp collection. They are described and listed in the United Nations Philately by Arleigh Gaines.
